Farah + Rami - afterday session

Afterday wedding sessions are such a fun beautiful way to create art in a fashion that doesn't impact your wedding day and isn't influenced by all the time constraints and attire restrictions. We've done afterday sessions in the mountains, on beaches, and with this lovely couple in the woods with smoke bombs! Ghalia + Whayal - wedding

So excited to (finally) get around to blogging the wedding of Ghalia + Whayal! This Lebanese wedding in Edmonton was full of energy and vibrance. In my defence for posting so late, this wedding was actually featured in Blush Magazine as well! (which is one reason why we are blogging so late). It was such a joy to go through their wedding pictures again and to remember all the moments for this day. From the moment Whayal pulled up in his Mercedes Jeep to when they celebrated their union with the exchange of rings, to when we dashed off for pictures at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald and challenged the wind on the top of parkades, to when we danced the night away in celebration at the Westin. Beyond the moments though, it is the relationship that comes out of these weddings that really makes me smile. What is it with our clients? Fans turn friends, to in many ways treating us like family. We are so blessed to keep these people in our hearts. Much love, Ken

Regina + Mike - wedding

I had so much fun shooting, editing and now putting together this blog post for these two. Regina + Mike are two of the most fun loving, down to earth, and full of love people I've met. I've known Regina for a number of years through various photography sessions, and it's always been an absolute pleasure working with her. What was Regina + Mike's wedding like? Take a day, and cram as much love and sentiment and joy into it as possible, then put even more in, until it's seeping through into the next day, years, even decades later, because that's what it was like. In fact putting together this blog post, there was simply not enough room for all the images I wanted to choose, and narrowing it down to this set was so difficult I had to put them into blog collages to fit. Regina + Mike married at Panther River. It was my first time there and my what an experience it was. I remember driving on the road to the Lodge and seeing free roaming cows on the road side and thinking, this is definitely not urban folk now. There are so many wonderful memories with these two and feeling so blessed going through their day again. I hope you enjoy this wedding set of images from the special day of Regina + Mike. Lyndsi + John - wedding

Excited to post another wedding set (from 2018 wedding season) of all things. Slowly catching up. The 2019 wedding season was super busy for us and 2020 is ramping up to be even more busy. But I'm still set on showcasing our work even if it's from a year back, because better late than never. This wedding was photographed out in Drayton Valley. I love rural weddings. They have so much character and the community is so close knit. It was a smokey day! This was when the wild fires in BC were casting thick smoke across most of Alberta. Nevertheless, the smoke actually presented a beautiful backdrop for photos especially at the end when we were able to use the smoke for some beautiful light beams. Hope you enjoy this set!

Melissa + Darcy Wedding

Excited to share the wedding of Melissa and Darcy from way back in 2018 still. I know I'm bad at blogging. Even so, just know that your friendly neighborhood wedding photographer (aka, Ken from Just Married Photography) is busy living life and taking care of his wife who is also busy pursuing her life goals to become a medical doctor. Grateful for all the love and support through these years from all our friends and family! But enough about our personal lives. Now back to this wedding... Melissa and Darcy are two of the cutest and kindest people we had the chance to work with last year. Not only are they great parents, but it's obvious they're totally in love with each other, and not only that but they're business partners! This wedding was held at the Quarry Golf Course outside in sunny summer weather in good ol' Edmonton Alberta!

Contest images

Happy to share that we recently placed a number of images in the latest PWPC competition! That said, those who know us know we're not huge contest people (we used to be), evolving as photographers and artists we've found the style of contests to be quite one-sided and limiting. Is there really such a huge divide between styles like Junebug vs styles like ISPWP? Yet the two styles would never place in the other contests' winning images. Why? Is it bad photography if it doesn't place? That is the fallacy of contests. It inadvertently creates a style niche that suggests all other styles are irrelevant or invalid. We have problems with that. Allowing our own style to emerge that makes sense to us as artists should always take priority to shooting for awards and recognition. We must pursue what we love as artists first. Then those who believe in our work will support that work. Shooting for "trinkets" as nods in contests should be a very distant priority in the end. And that is our motivating philosophy of why we choose not to submit or remain as active with wedding photography contests as we once did. Still it's nice to be able to send in a few images every now and then (mostly to keep ourselves active in the photography world) when we have the time and have them rank in these contests. Here's a bunch that we sent in last month including a whole bunch that we did not submit but that we absolutely love that would never have been selected in such contests - because it simply doesn't match that style!
